However, the army forces managed to fully repel the militants’ heavy attack after a rather brief round of clashes, inflicting Noteworthy losses on the terrorists.

Damascus

The Syrian Army troops launched a heavy attack on terrorists’ positions in the early hours of Tuesday before the start of the daily ceasefire and imposed control over a main part of a key settlement in Eastern Ghouta.

The army units kicked off a fresh wave of attacks on terrorists early Tuesday and managed to advance against the militants in the depth of al-Reihan settlement, driving the terrorists out of a large part of the settlement.

A military analyst said that if the army men free al-Reihan, they will open their path to the Eastern direction of the key town Douma after years of terrorists’ occupation.

The army soldiers had scored limited advances near al-Reihan on Monday. Earlier reports said that the army troops stormed terrorists’ positions on Monday night and early Tuesday, tightening noose on the terrorists in the town of Harasta in Eastern Ghouta before the start of the daily truce.

The army men engaged in tough battle with Ahrar al-Sham East of the town of Harasta in Eastern Ghouta and imposed control over several farms and a key point South of al-Birouni Hospital.

Also, as field source said that the army men deployed only a thousand meters away from al-Birouni petrol station that brings them very close to laying a full siege on the remaining parts of Harasta that is still under terrorists’ control.

Head of the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) Rami Abdulrahman said that the army has deployed only 2 km away from Douma, the largest terrorist-held town in Eastern Ghouta and the main stronghold of Jeish al-Islam.

In the meantime, Central network of the Russia-run Humeimim airbase in Lattakia province announced that the army units are advancing into the depth of Eastern Ghouta from the West and their comrades are doing the same from the East.

As a result of the recent advances, the Syrian Army now finds themselves within 3.5 km of splitting the East Ghouta pocket in half.

Idlib

Tens of civilians have started leaving terrorist-held regions in Eastern Idlib for regions that are under the Syrian Army’s control via a newly-set up humanitarian corridor.

The Arabic-language al-Watan daily reported on Tuesday that a safe corridor has been recently set up by the government forces under the supervision of the Russian and Turkish sides in Tal al-Sultan region in Eastern Idlib to pave the ground for the civilians to exit terrorist-held regions in Northwestern Syria.

Al-Watan went on to say that the newly-set up safe corridor is supposed to be used by those displaced civilians that had left their villages and settlements in Southern Aleppo for the regions that are under the control of the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Idlib province.

It added that tens of civilians have used the newly-established corridor to reach army-controlled regions within the framework of the de-escalation zone agreement concluded in Astana.

Heavy infighting among terrorist groups in Aleppo and Idlib provinces has displaces a large number of civilians in Northwestern Syria.

Aleppo
