Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Al-Nusra Front’s Attack on Gov’t Positions in Hama

 

 The Syrian army soldiers repelled terrorists’ attack on their positions in Hama province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) terrorists’ heavy offensive to capture the government forces’ positions near a power plant Northern Hama was fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Deir Ezzur and Aleppo, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in other provinces across Syria.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops repelled a heavy offensive of Al-Nusra Front on a power plant in Northern Hama on Sunday, killing a number of terrorists.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with Al-Nusra and fended off their attack on army positions near the town of Marhada and the power plant in Northern Hama.

A large number of terrorists were killed in the attack and the remaining pockets of them fled the battlefield leaving behind their weapons and military equipment.

A military source said Saturday that hundreds of fresh soldiers were forwarded by the Syrian Army to Eastern Hama to accelerate military advances against terrorists in the region

The army sent 300 fresh soldiers from Dara’a province to Eastern Hama to intensify attacks on terrorists amid the ongoing tough battle between the government forces and Al-Nusra Front in the region.

Meantime, the Syrian Army troops pushed terrorist groups back from a key village and several strategic hills in Northeastern Hama on Sunday.

The army men clashed fiercely with terrorists and captured the village of al-Hasanawi and several hills overlooking the villages of Um Sahrij and Abu al-Qar West of the town of Ithriya.

Relevant reports said earlier that the army men engaged in heavy fighting with terrorists in Abu Obeideh and al-Shalyout regions near the town of Mahradeh in Northern Hama, fending off their attack.

A number of terrorists were killed or wounded in the failed attack.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army has sent a large number of fresh forces and a large volume of military equipment to Southeastern Deir Ezzur to join a fresh operation to recapture the town of Albu Kamal they lost to the ISIL on Saturday, military sources confirmed minutes ago.

The sources said that the army’s convoy, including tens of tanks, missile launchers and military vehicles carrying hundreds of soldiers has been forwarded to Southeastern Deir Ezzur to join the government forces that have previously started their operation to drive ISIL out of Albu Kamal again.

The sources went on to say that the army men that had a temporary retreat from the town are carrying out heavy counter-attacks on ISIL positions to re-impose control over Albu Kamal at border with Iraq.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported earlier on Sunday that the ISIL terrorists regained control over the strategic border town of Albu Kamal, after prevailing over the positions of the Syrian Army troops and popular forces in the town on Saturday.

The SOHR reported that the Syrian government forces have retreated from the town of Albu Kamal under heavy attacks of the ISIL, deploying around the town.

It added that a tough battle is underway in Albu Kamal outskirts as the army men and the popular forces try to recapture the lost positions via carrying out heavy counter-attacks.

Aleppo

The Syrian Air Force carried out several combat sorties over the positions and movements of the Al-Nusra Front in Southeastern Aleppo on Sunday, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The warplanes pounded repeatedly the Al-Nusra’s movements and strongholds in the villages of Ramleh and Rasm al-Kabareh Southwest of the town of Khanasser in Southeastern Aleppo.

A military vehicle of the Al-Nusra was destroyed and a number of militants were killed or wounded in the airstrikes.

Relevant reports said on Wednesday that the army forces drove Al-Nusra Front out of vast regions in Northern Hama and managed to restore security to a long chunk of the road connecting the town of Ithriya in Hama to the town of Khanasser in Aleppo.

The source said that the army men operating in Northern Hama stormed the Al-Nusra positions in an area stretching for about 30 km Northward along the road to Aleppo, and prevailed over the terrorists.

The source further said that the army men captured a vast region North of the towns of Ithriya and Sheikh Hilal.

The army units continued their operation to liberate the regions near the town of al-Rahjan to restore security to the key road of Hama-Aleppo, the source said, adding that the army captured several regions and villages in Northern Hama and restored security to the road connecting East of al-Sa’an to Ithriya in an area 15 km in depth.

The source also mentioned that 100 terrorists have been killed and a large number of vehicles and a large volume military equipment of Al-Nusra have been destroyed in the attack.
