Syria in Past 24 Hours: Army Continues Advance in Different Battlefields, Kills More Terrorists

The army units continued their military operations against ISIL, al-Nusra Front and other terrorist groups across the country, destroying their weaponry and killing many of their members in the last 24 hours.

An army unit, in cooperation with the popular defense groups, targeted a gathering of ISIL terrorists in Tal Asheihib in the Northeastern countryside of Sweida province on Monday, according to a military source.

A mortar launcher and a bulldozer were destroyed and the terrorists operating them were killed, the source said.

Also in the past 24 hours, units of the army continued successful combat tasks into the direction of Mahin-al-Quaryatayn and established control on point 875 near al-Tloul al-Sud and points 908, 8, 901, 893,6 on the direction of al-Rmeili mountain and points 856 and 866 near Wadi al-Taba in Homs countryside.

Earlier, the army’s air force destroyed ISIL terrorists’ dens and vehicles, some of which equipped with machineguns and carrying ammunition, in the vicinity of Palmyra and al-Quaryatayn in the countryside of the central province of Homs.

The Syrian Army and its allies also pushed their way further into militant-held areas in Homs province and came closer in different directions to the key city of Palmyra (Tadmur) in the Eastern part of province, imposing heavy casualties on the terrorists in the region, military sources said on Monday.

The military sources said pro-government forces took dozens of hilltops, from the hill 900 up to hill 700, in heavy clashes with ISIL terrorists.

They also managed to advance further from al-Bayarat to Palmyra Triangle and from Tal al-Matar to al-Dowah and al-Tar Mountain.

The Syrian army also made several advances in rugged areas overlooking the city of Palmyra and liberated areas just across Palmyra’s ancient Citadel, Northeast of the city.

Also in Hama, the Syrian army forces’ missile attack on terrorists’ positions and killed tens of militants and destroyed their weapons and vehicles.

According to military sources, the missile attack was launched against a vehicle carrying terrorists on the strategic al-Mansoura-Tal Wasat road in al-Ghab Plain, 25 km Northwest of Hama.

The missile strike killed all militants on board in addition to the full destruction of their vehicle.

Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian army repulsed an ISIL attack on areas around the industrial zone Northeast of Aleppo and inflicted more casualties on the terrorists, battlefield sources said.

“The terrorists attempted to open their way into the areas East of Kafr Sakeer village located Northeast of Aleppo’s al-Sheikh Najjar Industrial Zone but were pushed back by the Syrian army troops after sustaining a number of losses and injuries,” a military source said on Monday.

“The Syrian Army, for its part, carried out a counter attack to win back more regions from the terrorist and managed to kill more militants and destroy a number of ISIL vehicles including Pick-up trucks equipped with heavy guns,” the source said.

According to the source, during the operation to repel ISIL offensive in Western areas just outside Kefr Sakeer village, an ISIL suicide attacker was identified and targeted by the Syrian soldiers before he could detonate his explosive belt.
