Syrian Army soldiers repelled ISIL’s large-scale offensive on government positions in a key industrial zone near the city of Deir Ezzur, killing 16 terrorists and wounding several more.

The ISIL began the offensive on army positions via crossing the Euphrates River from their positions at Sakr Island to take control of al-Sina’ah (industrial) district.

In a four-hour-long battle, the army men fended off the ISILI’s attack, killing at least 16 militants, seizing their weapons and ammunition.

Military sources said on Tuesday the ISIL terrorist group is about to launch a large-scale offensive on pro-government forces in Deir Ezzur province, Eastern Syria.

“The ISIL terrorists are planning a massive assault on al-Sina’ah district, while the Syrian Army beefed-up their defense lines inside the Deir Ezzur province after several reports indicated that ISIL is preparing to launch offensive at a key district near the Western bank of the Euphrates River,” the source said.
