the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” (Tiger Forces branch) – led by Colonel Shady Isma’eel – entered the imperative town of Sheikh Ahmad on the fringes of the Kuweires Military Airbase after intense firefights with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at this volatile front in the Aleppo Governorates eastern countryside.

The Cheetah Forces – in coordination with the National Defenses Forces (NDF) and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – advanced their positions from the recently captured village of Tal Sab’een to the ISIS controlled town of Sheikh Ahmad; this area is strategically located approximately 4km away from the Syrian Arab Army’s frontlines outside the Kuweires Military Airport.

Last week, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers at the Kuweires Military Airport carried out a rare special operations mission to cutoff the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway that leads to the Thermal Station; this mission to cutoff the aforementioned site that feeds into several roads inside the Deir Hafer Plains was successful.

If the Cheetah Forces and their allies capture the town of Sheikh Ahmad in the Deir Hafer Plains, they will be less than 2km away from lifting the two year long siege imposed by ISIS at the Kuweries Military Airport.

However, this will be no easy task for the Syrian Army Forces, as ISIS is determined to break into the Kuweires Military Airport before the pro-government forces reach the soldiers surrounded at this site in east Aleppo.
