The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) – took control of the imperative school building that was recently captured by the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at the village of Mafraq Sadeeq in the Al-Hasakah Governorate, where the latter suffered significant casualties before abandoning their positions at the building.

According to a military source, the attack began on late Tuesday afternoon, when an NDF contingent spotted the building and opened fire on the ISIS base. The SAA would arrive an hour later and assist the NDF in overwhelming the ISIS militants holed-up inside the building. At least 20 militants were killed and the remaining 11 combatants surrendered to the SAA and NDF contingents.

South of the Al-Qamishli District, the SAA repelled another ISIS infiltration attempt into the village of Tal Al-Ahmadi, resulting in the latter’s subsequent withdrawal from this strategic area in the Al-Hasakah Governorate once again. This is the 2nd time in the last 48 hours that ISIS has attacked Tal Al-Ahmadi; they are expected to attack this area again in the morning.
