Syrian Army destroys large militant tunnel in west Damascus

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unearthed a massive tunnel inside the town of Madaya yesterday that stretched hundreds of meters to the nearby village of Baqin in the western countryside of Damascus.

According to a local journalist, the tunnel was used by the militants of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham to smuggle weapons and ammunition from Baqin to Madaya.

The journalist added that the tunnel was later destroyed by the Syrian Arab Army after they cleared the entire area in both Madaya and Baqin of any potential security threat.

The Syrian Arab Army’s possession of Madaya, Baqin, and Al-Zabadani marks the first time since 2011 that they have control over these towns.
