Syrian Army expands control over new town in eastern Deir Ezzor

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their offensive along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River on Tuesday evening, liberating a new town located in Deir Ezzor’s northeastern countryside.

Led by elements of the 4th Division and 5th Legion, the Syrian Arab Army managed to break-through the Islamic State’s (ISIL) front-lines near the town of Hatla Al-Tahtani, killing and wounding scores of terrorists in the process.

According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army liberated Hatla Al-Tahtani shortly after entering the town last night.

With Hatla Al-Tahtani under their control, the Syrian Arab Army has secured a crossing northeast of Saqr Island and ended the Islamic State’s assault from Hatla Fouqaniyah.

In addition to their advance, the Syrian Arab Army is also working to cutoff the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces from the southern part of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
