Rouhani: High turnout multiplies president-elect’s responsibilities

Accompanied by cabinet members of the 11th government, President Rouhani made the remarks while renewing allegiance to late founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini on Tuesday morning by attending his mausoleum in Southern Tehran.

President Rouhani reiterated that he is committed to pursue the promises made during the presidential campaigns until their implementation.

‘For sure, I would fulfill my promises in line with the guidelines outlined by Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,’ he added.

He also congratulated the victory anniversary of the liberation of the strategic port city of Khorramshahr during the war with Iraq.

President Rouhani also commemorated the late venerable cleric and politician, Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and hailed his fidelity and devotion to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Touching upon the recent presidential elections held on May 19, President Rouhani said over 45 million Iranians attended the event among which 41 millions could cast their votes and the rest were deprived from casting their ballots because the time was expired.

Rouhani won a landslide victory on Friday by garnering over 23.4 million votes (57 percent of more than 41 million cast ballots) and became Iran’s president for another four-year term.
