Iran to adopt anti-sanctions measures

Head of the Economic Commission of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) says the general policies to counter the US-engineered UN sanctions against Iran have been outlined.

“The Economic Commission has drafted the general policies to counter the Western sanctions imposed against Iran which will be handed over to the Majlis Speaker soon,” said Arsalan Fathipour.

He added that lawmakers have discussed economic issues in depth and have researched various strategies such as import management and adopting policies to counter the sanctions.

“The policies to counter Western sanctions include fields such as transportation, import, export, foreign exchange, and other sanctions-related matters,” Fathipour expounded.

Tehran has criticized Western powers for intensifying the standoff over Iran’s nuclear program and hampering negotiations by imposing a fourth round of UN Security Council sanctions targeting the country’s economy.

The sanctions were imposed three weeks after Iran, Brazil and Turkey sought to diplomatically resolve the nuclear issue with a May 17 nuclear fuel swap declaration.

The United States, the European Union, and their allies imposed unilateral sanctions against the country shortly afterwards.
