The recent arrival of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reinforcements to the Khanasser Plains has paved the way for a counter-offensive against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in southeast Aleppo. On Saturday evening, the Syrian Arab Army – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF), Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary), and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) – liberated the village of “Burj Al-‘Atshanah” and its surrounding mountain top “Jabal Al-Qali’yat” after a fierce battle with ISIS.

As a result of this counter-assault, the Syrian Armed Forces have been able to push back the ISIS terrorists to the Duraham Oil Field, where they are currently involved in a violent battle. Optimized by Komoona The Syrian Armed Forces’ southeast Aleppo offensive in late February proved to be an important military endeavor, as they were able to create an important buffer-zone along their only supply line to the provincial capital from Hama.
