20130302-145607_h470200The General Command of the Army and the Armed Forces on Saturday declared the villages along international highways as secure areas.

The Command said in a statement that the Army members carried out “special operations”, in cooperation with the residents, in which they restored security and stability to the villages located along international highways.

These villages include Salamiya, Athria, Khanaser, al-Mazra’a, Rasm al-Naqel, Oum Amoud Sgheir, Oum Amoud, Jneid, Qubtin, Khreirish, Jalagheem, al-Sfeireh, Bashkoui, Tal Abour, Turkan, Tal Shgheib, al-Nayrab and Mukhayam al-Nayrab.

Security was also restored to the Defense Factories Establishment, Scientific Research Centers and Aleppo International Airport, the statement added.

“This achievement came in continuation of the efforts to eliminate the rest of the terrorists and mercenaries in those areas,” the General Command said in its statement.

The achievement, the statement added, also came “in confirmation of our Armed Forces’ determination to go ahead with carrying out their sacred national duty in confronting the acts of killing and aggression against our people and homeland.”

The General Command pointed out that the Army units immediately embarked on providing humanitarian aid to the citizens affected by the criminal acts of the terrorist groups and helping the displaced residents return to their homes.

While conveying the news of the Army’s victories, the General Command reiterated its call upon “all the Syrians who were misled to go back on the track as there is still a chance for laying down arms and go back to the homeland’s lap which embraces all its people.”
