Fresh forces of the Syrian Army and popular fighters engaged in a tough battle with the terrorist groups near al-Zara power plant and drove the militants back from the plant’s surroundings, battlefield sources said minutes ago.

“The Syrian government forces’ anti-terrorism operation in the Northeastern side of Hirbnafsa ended in the killing of at least 100 members of al-Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sham and brought the militants’ siege on al-Zara power station to an end,” the sources said.

“The terrorists groups left behind at least 100 members dead and many more wounded and fled to the depths of Hirbnafsa region,” they said, adding, “Al-Zara power station and the Northern and Eastern sides of the town of al-Zara are under the full control of the army and its allies.”

In relevant developments on Friday, the Russian and Syrian Air Forces targeted the concentration centers of the al-Nusra Front and its allies in the Northern part of Homs and the Southern territories of Hama provinces, inflicting major losses on the militants.

The Syrian and Russian fighter jets conducted over 20 airstrikes over the Northern part of Homs province and Southern lands of Hama province, destroying a number of sites of al-Nusra and Ahrar al-Sham in Hirbnafsa and al-Zara in Hama and Um Sharshouh and al-Rastan in Homs.

Dozes of the militants were killed or wounded in the attacks.
