Syrian Army strives to take hold of strategic Aleppo railway

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched the next phase of their southern Aleppo offensive on Wednesday, targeting the dozen or so towns left under the control of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham near the eastern railway.

Led by the 124th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Army began Wednesday’s offensive by capturing two towns from the jihadist rebels.

Following the capture of these two towns, the Syrian Army continued their push towards the eastern railway in a bid to expel the jihadist rebels from this area.

According to a military source in Aleppo, the Syrian Army needs to just capture five more towns from the jihadist rebels before they reach the eastern railway.

The Syrian Army has halted their advance tonight and is expected to restart their operations in the morning.
