The Syrian army and Hezbollah fighters are preparing to take control of a strategic thermal power plant in the Eastern part of Aleppo province which, defense analysts believe will herald a major change in war equations in Aleppo and the entire country.

The Syrian troops are completing their siege of the ISIL terrorists who are in control of Aleppo thermal power plant after leaving the Western territories of Kuweires airbase for the power plant where they are back-to-back with the main body of ISIL troops.

The Syrian army took full control of the heights overlooking the strategic town of Deir Hafer as other army units have started their operations to seize back al-Bab town which is also of strategic importance for the ISIL because it connects Raqqa province to the Eastern and Northern parts of Aleppo and the Turkish borders.

Battlefield sources announced early on Friday that the Syrian army and popular forces have only 10 Kilometers to reach Sheikh Najjar Industrial Area to complete the circle of government forces around the ISIL militants East of Aleppo.

“The Syrian army and its popular allies have deployed forces approximately 10km East of the Sheikh Najjar Industrial District’s 3rd Zone; once they manage to link their front-lines with the Zone, they will have effectively encircled the ISIL in East Aleppo,” the sources said.

Also on Thursday, the Syrian army and its allies continued to push the terrorists back from more lands near the strategic Kuweires airbase in Eastern Aleppo following hours of fierce clashes.

The Syrian army troops and the National Defense Forces, in a heavy battle, killed tens of the ISIL terrorists and forced them to retreat from their positions in the village of Jubb al-Kol in the Southeastern parts of Tal Maksour town.

Military sources said that operations still continue on the Eastern outskirts of Aleppo near Kuweires airport to clean the area of militants.
