A Syrian opposition party welcomes Assad plan

Bashar al-AssadA Syrian opposition party, Syrian National Youth Party Secretary-General says that Bashar al-Assad discussed Syrian people’s and opposition’s demands in his Sunday address.
Maher Merhej told Al Alam TV Network Assad’s speech was serious and opened the doors for negotiation with armed rebel if they put their arms on the ground.

He pointed to Arab-western interventions in Syrian crisis and said that national union government and free elections were among our (the opposition) demands, but international conspiracies were stronger than reform attempts inside Syria.

He added that if Syrian government force demolishes terrorism inside, unarmed opposition will accept their responsibilities on constructing the country and peaceful transition of power.

Merhej also commented on the fate of armed rebel groups after crisis, and believed that they did not believe in a political solution and would be remain outside the political developments in Syria.

He asserted that Syria was on solving the crisis, and his party, as part of Syrian people, would be responsible for establishment of a democratic system, to rule Syria in decades to come. Anyone aspiring being this system should present their proposal, either inside or in outside.
