Syrian Envoy: Prisoners’ Case at Israeli Jails Uncovers Racism of Zionist Entity

The Israeli crimes against Palestinian and Arab prisoners have become an example followed by the western countries in dealing with Arab and Muslim prisoners, Syria’s permanent Representative to the Arab League Youssef al-Ahmad said.

Ambassador Ahmad’s comments came during an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League to discuss the issues of Arab and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Syria’s representative said the conditions of the Arab and Palestinian prisoners uncovers the racist, criminal and inhumane methods used by the Zionist regime.

The Arab League issued a resolution expressing solidarity with all Palestinian and Arab prisoners and detainees in the Israeli prisons, calling for setting them free immediately and unconditionally.

The Arab League also condemned the Israeli inhumane violations against the prisoners and called on the international organizations to shoulder their responsibilities towards them.

It commissioned the Arab group to ask the UN to send an international fact-finding committee on the inhumane conditions of the Palestinian prisoners, welcoming the Palestinian efforts exerted to achieve the swap deal which was announced on October 11, 2011.

Concerning the US allegations that Iran is involved in the assassination attempt against the Saudi Ambassador in Washington, Ambassador Ahmad announced that Syria is not part of any statement issued by the Arab League against Iran.

He stressed that Saudi Arabia is a sisterly country and it is one of the closest countries to Syria; however, issuing a condemnation statement against Iran should be based on clear-cut evidence.

He warned that the Arabs should take much care in order not to be used as a tool by the US against Iran.
