Syrian Grand Mufti: Syria paying for its supports for Islamic countries

n00201034-b

Syria’s grand Mufti said the country’s crisis is the price it is paying for supporting Arab and Islamic countries.

Speaking in a meeting with Algeria’s minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in Algiers, Sheikh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun added that the Syrian nation, army, leaders and scholars have managed to resist the terrorists in the past 5 years.

According to Iqna, he underlined that those holding terrorist views and Takfiri ideologies have nothing to do with Islam.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Hassoun said Syria and Algeria both support the Islamic Ummah and the Palestinian cause.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists, including militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group, currently controlling parts of it, mostly in the east.

More than 220,000 people have been killed in the four-year conflict that has driven 4 million refugees abroad.
