Syrian People Express Support to Comprehensive Reform Program

Popular, civil and youth activities continue in the Syrian provinces through holding rallies and national activities to express support to the comprehensive reform program to reach the renewable and modern Syria whose features were outlined by President Bashar al-Assad’s speech delivered at Damascus University Auditorium last Tuesday.

Huge Masses of citizens gathered at the sea corniche in Tartous, at the main square in Massyaf and at Hama Street in al-Salamya holding the national flag and banners and chanting slogans affirming solidarity with the Syrian leadership.

The participants hailed the sacrifices of the Syrian army for preserving the dignity, pride and stability of the homeland, calling for discarding sedition and the misleading campaigns launched by some mass media through fabricating facts with the aim of spreading chaos and undermining Syria’s security and stability.

They strongly condemned the criminal acts committed by the armed terrorist groups, the last of which the coward terrorist attack perpetrated by an armed terrorist group at Ekrima neighborhood in Homs which led to the martyrdom of nine persons including a French journalist and the injury of several others including a Belgian journalist.

In Misyaf City in Hama, huge number of citizens gathered at the main square to affirm national unity and the independent national decision, voicing support to the comprehensive reform program and rejecting the terrorist acts perpetrated by the armed groups.

Mounir Mahmoud and Samer Amer said “people gathered to stress to the whole world that the Syrian people are united and their decision is still free and independent.”

Citizen Samer al-Sheikh Ali said that Syria won’t bow under pressures nor will it give up its national and pan-Arab stances, hailing the sacrifices of the Syrian army to safeguard the steadfastness of the homeland.

In al-Salamiyeh city in Hama province, citizens gathered in the city’s main street to express support to the comprehensive reform program led by President Bashar al-Assad.

The participants expressed appreciation for the Syrian army’s sacrifices to defend Syria’s stability and security, thanking Russia and China for their standing by the Syrian people in the face of the conspiracy hatched against their country.

Citizen Wael Jakeesh expressed readiness to sacrifice himself for the sake of Syria, calling for wielding a fist of iron against armed terrorist groups that foment chaos and terrify safe people.

In turn, Citizen Maan Abdel Haq condemned the criminal acts committed by armed groups and the instigative campaigns launched against the Syrian people.

Huge crowds gathered in Tartous province in support of the reform program and to stress national unity. The participants stressed commitment to the national principles, calling upon the Arab monitors in Syria to be neutral in their mission and inspect the reality of the situation in Syria as it is on the ground.

Father Fayez Mahfoud said ”the Syrian people want to tell the world that they want to end terrorism and that those who came to Syria to divide its people know nothing about their determination and the strength.”

A number of Syrian youths stressed that President al-Assad’s speech and his participation with the crowds at the Ummayyad Square stress the President’s insistence on the role of the youth in the next stage of building modern Syria.
