Syrian Soldiers Hit US-Backed Militants’ Positions Hard in Eastern Damascus

The sources said that the army troops engaged in clashes with the terrorist groups of Ausoud al-Sharqiyeh and Ahmed al-Abdou affiliated to the US-Backed Free Syrian Army near the villages of Dakwah and Beir Qassab villages East of Damascus International Airport.

The sources further added that the offensive aimed at expanding the army’s control around the Airport and securing the important Tishrin Power Plant (located between Dakwah and the Airport) that was under the terrorists’ repeated rocket attacks.

Relevant reports said on Monday that the Syrian pro-government forces continued their military operation in Eastern Damascus, hitting the FSA positions in the village of al-Aliyaniyah, managing to break-through the defense lines of the militants and capturing al-Aliyaniyah village and its nearby lands.

The FSA forces lost a number of forces in the army attack.

The army forces had previously restored security to the Damascus-Palmyra highway and had significantly advanced against terrorists along the Damascus-Baghdad highway.
