Syria’s newly appointed leader, Al Jolani, touches down in Riyadh for diplomatic discussions

Abu Muhammad Al Jolani, the new leader of Syria, also recognized by his given name Ahmad Al-Sharaa, made an official visit to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Sunday.

Al-Jolani has embarked on his inaugural official visit abroad since taking leadership in Syria.

The head of the extremist organization Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), who has newly declared her role as the leader during Syria’s transitional phase, has reportedly engaged in discussions with Saudi representatives in the capital, Damascus.

Several weeks prior, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, during his official visit to Damascus, underscored the importance of rescinding the sanctions currently levied against Syria.

Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, Al-Jolani is set to continue his diplomatic tour with an anticipated meeting in Turkey on Tuesday, where he is scheduled to hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Al Jolani has announced his assumption of the role of interim president of Syria, a position he intends to hold until the elections scheduled to take place in four years.
