IAEA report vague, influenced by West

An Iranian lawmaker denounces the latest report of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Iran’s nuclear program as vague and influenced by western powers.

The IAEA has issued a vague, dubious report about Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, First Vice Speaker of the Majlis (Iran’s national legislative body) Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard, said on Wednesday.

Although the report confirmed Iran’s transparent nuclear activities and the country’s commitment to IAEA principles, western powers pushed the IAEA to present a report that lacks required transparency, he added.

“The Majlis and nation expect this international body and its director general to issue a transparent report and to defend the rights of Iranians and all free nations in the world,” IRIB quoted the lawmaker as saying.

He reiterated that Iran would go ahead with its nuclear program for peaceful applications in line with international law and legitimate rights.

IAEA’s Director General, Yukiya Amano, on Monday released the Agency’s latest report on Iran’s nuclear work. The report once again confirmed that the Agency continues to “verify the non-diversion of declared nuclear materials in Iran.”

The report, however, urged Iran to “cooperate in clarifying outstanding issues” and suspend its uranium enrichment activities.

The Islamic Republic insists that it has always been fully cooperating with the IAEA, reiterating that it has answered all questions regarding its nuclear work.
