Promotion of Tehran-Cairo ties has unrested the extremists

1756059172A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in Iran’s Parliament called the recent talks between President Ahmadinejad and Al Azhar clerics as a beginning point to prove the undeniable role of Iran and Egypt in the Muslim world saying some extremist movements are unrested by promotion of Tehran-Cairo ties.
Mahdi Sanayee, member of the National Security and Foreign Policy in Iran’s Parliament in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) referred to the recent meeting between President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Al Azhar grand Sheikh Ahmad al Tayyeb saying this negotiation can play an important role in confronting extremist thoughts in the Muslim world.

He highlighted the high potentiality to boost unity between Iran and Egypt and said,” Some countries are concerned over the positive role of Egypt and Iran in the Muslim world and stress the topic of Shia crescent to provoke other countries against Iran.”

Iranian MP also noted that spread of disunity among Iran, Iraq and other Muslim countries is a service to western countries and said,” Egypt has recently tried to come to an agreement with Iran on the regional issues particularly Syria, and that is the reason some countries like Turkey and Saudi Arabia feel a kind of threat to their interests.”

He also referred to the concerns of some extremist movements in Egypt over improvement of Cairo- Tehran ties and claim Egypt is pursuing its long term interests in boosting its ties with Saudi Arabia and Turkey in a bid to hurdle expansion of ties between Egypt and Iran.

“Conflicts and disunity merely serves the interests of the enemies.” He said referring to the fact that Muslim world has to accept that any disunity among its members is not to the benefit of any Muslim state.

Mahdi Sanaee lauded the policies of Mohammad Morsi regarding its ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and said,” Cairo-Tehran issues have piled up for the past three decades and fortunately the ice between the countries have broken to a great extent.”

He expressed hope that expansion of ties between Egypt and Iran is seriously followed since many countries will benefit that.
