Tel Aviv Admits Early Failure: Resistance Stronger, Gaza Rockets Frustrating, Millions into Shelters

GETTY156801224429164_waYears ago, former “Israeli” PM Isaac Rabin wished that “the sea swallows the resistant Gaza strip”. However, neither would the sea swallow its people, nor would “Israel” succeed in eliminating the resistance.

This reality was once again manifested hours after the wide “Israeli” aggression on Gaza, and this time “Israel” rushed to admit the failures.

“Israeli” Ynet daily chose to count the resistance’s rockets.

Under the title, “”Israel” under attack: Over 100 rockets fired in one day”, the daily wrote: “A total of 117 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at “Israel” on Tuesday, the first day of “Operation Protective Edge”.”

“Rockets fired from Gaza kept pushing northward on Tuesday night when the rocket alert siren blared in areas as far as the Sharon plains and Caesarea. It was followed by a volley of about 30 rockets fired at the same time at different areas.”

It further listed : “Before that barrage, sirens were sounded across “Israel”, including in Sderot, Ashdod, Yavne, Be’er Sheva, Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Givatayim, Rishon LeZion,Kadima-Tzoran, Ness Ziona, Southern Sharon Regional Council, Ra’anana and Herzliya.”

The most read “Israeli” paper also confessed that Hamas rockets reached in addition to Tel Aviv, al-Quds, and Haifa.

Moreover, the daily devoted its opinion piece to clarify that Gaza resistance movements learned from previous confrontations with “Israel”.

According to Ynet, “Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees have, in light of the conclusions they drew in previous bouts with “Israel”, taken steps in order to counter the challenges presented to them by the “Israeli: army. This is already evident.”

“For example, to counter Iron Dome, Hamas and the other Palestinian organizations are launching barrages of dozens of rockets and missiles at once. This is because the Palestinians believe that there’s a limit to the number of rockets that Iron Dome can intercept. This is an open secret, known not only to Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza, but also to Hizbullah in Lebanon,” it clarified.

It added: “To overcome the superiority of “IDF” intelligence in Gaza, the Palestinians have employed what is known by the military as “underground range”. Quite simply, the Palestinians bury their launchers in prepared pits, making them hard to detect from the air and hard to hit precisely because of their below-ground location. These pits usually have covers that are opened either electronically or by pulling a connected rope. The launcher is powered by an electric switch, the rocket is launched and the cover replaced.”

For its part, Haaretz daily was clear in admitting the defeat: “Growing frustration in “Israel” pushing government to further escalation.”

Amos Harel, the daily’s top military analyst, warned that “Hamas is calling the shots so far in the current round of hostilities. “Israel” is sliding toward a military confrontation it did not seek. The growing casualties in the Gaza Strip and the fact that three million “Israelis” have already experienced running to shelters to the sounds of blaring sirens are dictating an increasing escalation.”

Meanwhile, the “Jerusalem Post” newspaper wrote: “Air raid sirens rang out in Greater Tel Aviv, and in “Jerusalem”, Kfar Saba and the Binyamina area on Tuesday evening, marking an increase in the Gazan rockets’ range, on the first day of Operation Protective Edge.”
