The Syrian army started massive clean-up operations in the Central province of Homs on Tuesday, military sources said.
The army operations is aimed at purging terrorists from the outskirts of Homs, informed military sources said.

According to FNA dispatches, the surrounding areas of Talbiseh town in Homs countryside have been the scene of heavy clashes between the government troops and the terrorists.

Meantime, independent sources told FNA that the terrorist groups have already sustained heavy losses during the clashes.

The Syrian army is also carrying out large-scale operations in Masadeh, Al-Davibeh, Um al-Tavini, Al-Soltanieh, Um Sahirij, Anq al-Hava, Eastern Salam and Rajm al-Qasr regions.

In the Eastern countryside of Homs province, in Salam Gharbi, al-Doiba and Om al-Rish villages, there were also heavy clashes between the Syrian soldiers and militants who eventually fled the battlefields.

Syria has been the scene of insurgency since 2011 when certain western powers and their regional allies voiced loudly that Syrian protests have no diplomatic solution and they started supplying the country’s opposition groups with their arms and funds.

In 2014 and specially after victory of President Bashar al-Assad in the country’s presidential election, the army has gained the upper hand in its anti-terrorism campaign, and has been partly successful in sealing borders with Turkey and Jordan.
