FM: Iran’s Reaction to ‘israeli’ Assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran Is ‘Conclusive’
Iran’s foreign minister has characterized the nation’s reaction to Israel’s assassination of senior Hamas political figure Ismail Haniyeh last month as "decisive."

During a phone conversation with Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani on Sunday, Abbas Araghchi described the response as “definitive,” adding that it “will be measured and carefully considered.”
The senior Iranian diplomat stated that, in contrast to Israel, Iran is not looking to intensify tensions but emphasized that they are also not afraid of escalation.
Earlier, Araghchi spoke on the phone with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to talk about matters pertaining to both nations and the region.
The two diplomats discussed the continuous Israeli actions in Gaza, labeling them as genocide, and considered the potential regional repercussions.
They urged an increase in efforts to halt Israeli actions in Gaza and to deliver humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian region.
In a Sunday post on his X account, Araqchi mentioned that over the previous two days, he had conducted individual phone conversations with his counterparts from Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.
In a separate post, the Iranian foreign minister mentioned that he had received congratulatory phone calls from his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts over the past two days, following his recent appointment.
On Friday, Araghchi informed the United Kingdom and France that Iran reserves the right to retaliate against the Israeli regime for what it considers the “unforgivable” act of assassinating Haniyeh.
On July 31, Haniyeh, the head of the Political Bureau for the Palestinian resistance movement, was assassinated in a precision strike operation in Tehran.
He visited Tehran to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian.
