Terroists of Faylaq Al-Rahman and Jabhat Fatah Al-Sham (formerly Al-Nusra Front) launched a massive offensive offensive in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Friday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses at the key town of Jobar.

Faylaq Al-Sham and their Islamist allies began their offensive by targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s fortifications in northwest Jobar; this resulted in a fierce battle that lasted for nearly two hours on Friday morning.

Using a tunnel to reach the Syrian Army-held Mail Depot, the Islamist rebels launched wave-after-wave of fighters towards this building near the village of Al-Zablatani; however, their assault would ultimately fail.

According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent, the Syrian Arab Army killed a total of 14 Islamist rebels, while also capturing 7 other militants outside the Jobar Mail Depot on Friday.

The field correspondent added that the Syrian Armed Forces had already known about this Islamist offensive, thanks in large part to their informants that are embedded with the rebels.
