The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Saturday and at dawn Sunday nabbed two Palestinian youngsters from the West Bank and four other citizens from Occupied Jerusalem, bringing the number of Palestinians detained since mid-June to over 2,000.

The IOF nabbed Palestinian youngster Bashar Qadous during a round of clashes that burst out on Sunday after the occupation troops stormed Bourin village, south of Nablus, targeting Palestinian native civilians with randomly-shot barrages of rubber bullets and tear gas grenades, eye-witnesses told a PIC correspondent.

The invading troops rummaged through Palestinians’ homes in the village, smashing up entrance gates and destroying Palestinians’ personal belongings all along the assault.

The IOF kidnapped another 20-year-old Palestinian youth, identified as Muhammad Bassem Abu Khdeir, after having raided his family home at the Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem, and ransacked it.

Another round of clashes, marked by heavy discharge of IOF sound bombs and rubber bullets, flared up across the Jenin village of Ya’bad, by-standers at the scene further reported.

In a related incident, four citizens were kidnapped by the IOF from Jerusalem’s outskirts, the Palestinian Prisoner Society documented on Saturday.

Such Israeli arbitrary abduction-campaigns have been increasingly stepped up particularly at checkpoints and during anti-settlement parades, incarcerating Palestinian civilians under flimsy pretexts.

At least 597 Palestinians were apprehended by the IOF from the West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem since the start of August. Most of the arrests have been carried out in al-Khalil and Jerusalem, a statement released by the Prisoner Society revealed on Saturday.

At least 190 Palestinians were nabbed by occupation forces in Occupied Jerusalem while a total of some 102 others were captured in al-Khalil.

74 Palestinians were apprehended in Ramallah and el-Bireh while 63 were arrested in Jenin compared to 54 in Bethlehem, 45 in Nablus, 23 in Tulkarem, 22 in Salfit, 11 in Qalqiliya, 7 in Jericho, and 6 in Tubas.

Two female Palestinian citizens, from Jerusalem and Ramallah, were among the captives.

The rate of Palestinians held behind Israeli bars has gone up to 7,000 as a total of at least 2,000 were apprehended by the IOF since mid-June.
