Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Terrorists’ Attack on Gov’t Positions in Homs

 

The Syrian army soldiers repelled terrorists’ attack on their positions in Homs province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The terrorist attacks to capture the government forces’ positions in the Eastern part of Homs province were fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Damascus, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in other provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian army troops, supported by the air force, repulsed heavy attacks of the ISIL terrorists on their positions in Eastern Homs.

The army units clashed with the ISIL militants who had attacked their positions from the Eastern and Southern fronts near the town of al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs.

During the clashes, the Syrian army forces killed and wounded a number of terrorists, forcing others to flee the battleground.

Meantime, other army units clashed with the terrorists in the two regions of al-Hayl and Hamimeh in Northeastern al-Sukhnah, killing a number of them.

Also, the Syrian fighter jets launched repeated airstrikes on ISIL in Southeastern al-Sukhnah, West of the T2 Station and near the common borders with Deir Ezzur province, destroying several ISIL bases and military vehicles.

Damascus

The Syrian army dispatched a large number of fresh forces and military equipment to Eastern Damascus as terrorists intensified their offensives against their positions in Eastern Ghouta.

A field source confirmed on Thursday that many reinforcements and weapons have been sent to the regions of clashes near the town of Harasta.

The source added that a large number of forces and equipment have also been dispatched to Dhahiya al-Assad region to prevent any terrorist attacks against the Police Hospital, Harasta gardens and al-Dhahiya region.

Militants of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Faylaq Al-Rahman have launched powerful offensives in the Eastern suburbs of Damascus.

Meantime, a military source had earlier confirmed that the terrorists have not succeeded in attaining their goals by launching heavy attacks.

Meantime, the Syrian army forces, supported by the air force, repulsed terrorists’ attacks on their vital positions in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus for the second consecutive day.

The army troops continued clashes with the terrorists near their positions in the town of Harasta in Eastern Damascus, warding off their offensives again.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian army forces discovered and seized a large number of weapons and military equipment made by Israel, the US and some other Western states during their anti-ISIL cleansing operations in Deir Ezzur.

The Arabic website of Sputnik news agency quoted a military source as saying on Thursday that during the operations to liberate the remaining districts of Deir Ezzur city which were under the ISIL occupation for almost three years, they discovered a large number of arms and ammunitions caches, including different types of Israeli, US and Western weapons.

The source added that in addition to seizing different types of rifles and M16 machineguns as well as TOW missiles in al-Sana’a, al-Hamidiyeh and Stadium districts and the regions near the public garden, they discovered the US-made artilleries of BRAMS 155 type which is considered as a heavy and long-range cannon.

The Syrian army units also seized Hummer armored vehicles used both for transferring forces and suicide attacks as well as Israeli spy drones and clothing special to engineering jobs.

Idlib

The Turkish army dispatched a new convoy of fresh forces, including tens of soldiers, to the regions near the borders with Syria to increase preparations to enter Idlib province.

Al-Manar news channel reported on Thursday that the Turkish army has sent the military convoy to Kafar Lousing in Northern Idlib.

It added that the convoy consisted of 6 personnel carriers and nearly 50 soldiers, noting that the Turkish army is preparing to enter Idlib and the Western parts of Aleppo.

Meantime, the Syrian army troops continued to advance against the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) towards Idlib province after winning control over several hills, towns and villages in Northeastern Hama on Wednesday.

The army men pushed Al-Nusra back from the small town of Mawilah, Tal (hill) Mahsar and the village of al-Jamileh North of the small town of al-Hamra.

The army soldiers also captured al-Banat hill North of the village of al-Rabi’eh.

The army’s engineering units started defusing bombs and landmines planted by the terrorists in the region.
