The Iraqi Army Recaptures Multiple Villages in the Salaheddeen Governorate

Symbolic victory for Iraqi army: Saddam home town retaken

The Iraqi Army has continued its successful offensive in the Salaheddeen Governorate by capturing multiple villages from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham near the provincial capital of Tikrit. Yesterday, the Iraq Army announced the capture of 4 villages in the Salaheddeen Governorate and the seizure of multiple weapons that were confiscated from ISIS storage depots. The villages of Aziz Balad, Hatheera, Tal Al-Thahab, and Yathreeb were captured by the Iraqi Army over the last 48 hours in the Balad District.

In the Al-Anbar Governorate, the Iraqi Army advanced 2km into east Al-Heet city, killing 16 ISIS fighters, including their field commander, ‘Abdel-Rahman Al-Masri (Egyptian). Violent clashes continue in Al-Heet between the Iraqi Army and ISIS, as the former attempts to retake this imperative industrial city located in east Al-Anbar. Assisting the Iraqi Army with consistent airstrikes, the Anti-ISIS Coalition attacked ISIS installations in the Industrial District of Al-Heet, targeting factories used to produce weapons for the ISIS fighters combatting the ISF and local militias.

East of Al-Ramadi, the Iraqi Army killed 21 ISIS militants at the village of Al-Houz after the recent surge in violence near the Al-Ramadi Police Station that expanded to nearby villages. At Sijariyya – also, east of Al-Ramadi – 6 ISIS fighters were killed during a brief firefight with the Iraqi Army. Reported among the dead ISIS militants was their field commander “Abu Osama Al-Souri” (Syrian).
