The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei: High Turnout in Elections Heavy Blow to Enemies

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei underlined that the Iranian nation’s high turnout in the parliamentary elections on Friday hit a heavy blow to the enemies of the Islamic Republic.

Iranians have overwhelmingly demonstrated their trust in the Islamic system through their massive turnout in the March 2 parliamentary elections, the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Thursday.

“On March 2, people have indeed voted for the Islamic system,” the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said in a meeting with members of Iran’s Assembly of Experts.

Praising the overwhelming presence of Iranians in the 9th parliamentary elections, the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said, “People’s vote was also an awakening slap in the face of those who have been hallucinating about the nature of the Islamic establishment and its future as well as the people and enemy.”

Iranians from different walks of life came to the polling stations in large numbers on Friday to determine the fate of the country’s legislative body for the next four years.

Iranians staged a high turnout in the country’s 9th parliamentary elections in a move deemed as a straight message to the US war rhetoric.

Over 48 million Iranian voters were eligible to cast their ballots, and initial estimates showed that at least 65% of them have been present at the polling stations.

The American and European reporters and journalists who had come to Iran to cover the elections were astonished by the high level of public participation at the polling stations.

The foreign journalists were astounded after they witnessed large crowds of people queuing at the polling stations even before voting officially started.
