The Palestinian prisoners’ Day: More than 2400 captives participate in a hunger

The director of Ahrar Center for Prisoners Studies and human rights, the ex-captive Fouad Khuffash said that more than 2400 captives in the Zionist occupation’s prisons will participate in the open hunger strike that will start on the seventeenth of April which corresponds to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Day.
Khuffash said in an exclusive statement to PIC on Saturday that prisoners from Fatah movement in Eichel, Ashkelon and Nafha prisons decided to participate in the open hunger strike “which means increasing the number of participants in the strike to more than 2400 prisoners. It is expected that this number will increase, later, to include all the detainees in the occupation’s prisons. ”
Khuffash further said that prisoners of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the PFLP in all prisons will all participate in the strike, “which means that we are going to witness a large factional unity in this strike.”
He also revealed that on Sunday, a meeting will be held between the Shin Bet security service, Zionist intelligence and the Prison Service with the leaders of the strike of the various prisons to discuss this matter.
Khuffash said that the Zionist prison service requested to postpone the strike for 10 days in exchange for a written promise to allow visiting the prisoners and to end the solitary confinement which was rejected by the captives’ movement.
Therefore, it is expected that on the seventeenth of April the prisoners will refuse to receive meals, send out the food they have, and start an open hunger strike, in spite of the expected Zionist repressive measures to which the captives were showing readiness.
The prisoners have also criticized the meeting to be held between the Palestinian officials and Prime Minister for the Zionist government Benjamin Natanyaho and which will fall on the seventeenth of April.
The Palestinian News Network quoted a statement of the prisoners in which they said: “We are tired of promises and we have lost hope in the meetings and on the Palestinian Prisoners’ Day. Instead of being surprised by our liberation, we are surprised by useless meetings”, referring to the meeting, expected on the seventeenth of this month on the Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, between Salam Fayyad and Netanyahu to deliver a letter from the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
In their statement, the prisoners were wondering, the reason behind choosing the Palestinian Prisoners’ Day for these letters and meetings, saying that on this day “we were waiting the adoption of our demands by the Palestinian Government and which will be sent as a message to Netanyahu and his extremist government to demand at least the end of Shalit law.”
The captives in the occupation’s prisons especially in Nafha and Ansar 3 prisons appealed to all the free people around the world to show their solidarity with them and a united attitude against the anti-prisoners Zionist mentality which is clear through the Zionist prisons service.
