Syrian Army liberates two towns along eastern banks of the Euphrates: map

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has been rapidly advancing in the Euphrates River Valley recently, liberating a large portion of territory that was previously occupied by the so-called Islamic State (ISIL) in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

On Tuesday, the Syrian Arab Army staked their claim on the eastern banks of the Euphrates River after liberating two towns from the Islamic State terrorists.

Led by the 4th Mechanized Division and 5th Legion, the Syrian Arab Army advanced into the town of Marat, forcing the Islamic State terrorists to flee south towards Khasham.

With Marat liberated, the Syrian Arab Army quickly attacked Khasham, scoring another major advance along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River.

According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army is in full control of both Khasham and Marat; they are now pushing south along the eastern bank of the Euphrates in a new bid to expand to reach the strategic Al-‘Omar Oil Fields.

Meanwhile, on the western bank of the Euphrates, the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces liberated three towns from the Islamic State terrorists; they were identified as Hawi, Hamid, and Shamitiyah by a military source.
