Nearly a dozen people have lost their lives and 30 others sustained injuries in separate bomb explosions and shooting incidents in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, and elsewhere in the crisis-hit Arab country.

A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said unidentified gunmen sprayed a civilian car with bullets as it was traveling on Mohammed al-Qasim Expressway in eastern Baghdad, leaving one employee of the Iraqi Ministry of Justice dead and two others wounded, Arabic-language al-Baghdadia satellite television network reported.

Earlier in the day, a civilian was killed and six others wounded when a bomb attached to a car went off in the Bob al-Sham neighborhood of northern Baghdad.

Separately, an improvised explosive device detonated close to a commercial district in Baghdad’s eastern neighborhood of New Baghdad, on Tuesday, killing one civilian and injuring eight others.

Unknown gunmen also shot dead two pro-government and anti-al-Qaeda Sahwa (Awakening) fighters in the city of Muqdadiyah, situated about 90 kilometers (60 miles) north of Baghdad.
