Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with Kenyan Ambassador to Tehran on Wednesday described terrorism and extremism as the most dangerous threats posed to the entire world, and called for collective efforts by all countries, specially the Muslim states, and international bodies to uproot terrorist groups in the region.
“Terrorism and extremism are the biggest threats to the international system,” Zarif said during the meeting in the Iranian capital today.

He also voiced regret that Africa has become a victim of terrorism and extremism due to the presence of terrorist groups such as Al-Shabab, Boko Haram and Al-Qaeda.

The Kenyan ambassador, for her part, voiced pleasure in her new mission in Iran, and expressed the hope that the cooperation of the two countries’ embassies would help further expand Kenya-Iran relations in all areas.

Earlier this week, Chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council (EC) Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani called on the Muslim nations to be vigilant about enemies’ divisive plots which have led the region to violence, extremism, and terrorism.

Hashemi Rafsanjani said that extremism damages the moderate and peaceful nature of Islam and can be used as a tool to provoke Islamophobia.

He underlined that people in Afghanistan, Libya and Egypt tried to overthrow their countries’ totalitarian regimes but now sectarianism, violence and extremism have engulfed them.
