Syrian Army Sends Large Convoy of Special Forces to Deir Ezzur

Field sources confirmed on Thursday that a large convoy of the Syrian army’s special forces, consisting of 2 military brigades, have been sent to Deir Ezzur to participate in the battle against the ISIL.

Noting that the fresh forces were sent from the Eastern parts of Hama province, they said that the army seeks to accelerate cleansing operations against the ISIL in Deir Ezzur.

Military sources confirmed on Wednesday that the Syrian army troops are getting ready to cross the Euphrates River to liberate ISIL-held oilfields in Eastern Deir Ezzur.

The sources said the army’s elite Tiger Forces will lead an imminent operation to cross to the Eastern Euphrates bank South of al-Busayrah region to move directly towards the al-Amr oilfields.

Also, field sources said on Wednesday that the army has imposed control over 90 percent of Deir Ezzur city and come close to accomplishing its mission.

The sources said that the army men, backed up by the country’s artillery units and Air Force, continued to advance against ISIL in Deir Ezzur, driving terrorists out of half of Huweija al-Kate’a neighborhood.

They added that the army men are in control of over 90 percent of Deir Ezzur city neighborhoods following their recent advances against ISIL.
