Iran self-sufficient in missile simulator

As the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) is holding major aerial drills, a senior Iranian commander says the country has achieved self-sufficiency in manufacturing missile system simulators.

Iranian experts are currently producing many simulators needed for air-defense inside the country, Deputy Director of Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Mohammad Qorbani told IRNA on Sunday.

He added that the base has managed to manufacture even old missile systems with far better tactical complications which are in the inauguration phase at present.

The commander noted that real operations can be designed and carried out through software of simulators which will reduce costs and promote skills.

He noted that the base has mass-produced certain simulators after their initial samples were launched.

On Saturday, IRIAF began the second phase of major aerial drills — dubbed “Fadaeeyan Harim Velayat 3” (Defenders of Velayat Sanctuaries 3) — in preparation for yet another extensive military maneuver next week.

The second phase of the drills includes the performance of tactical flights and dropping of test ammunition on mock targets, said the spokesman for the drills, Hossein Chit-Foroush.

He added that that Saeqeh, F-4 and F-5 fighter jets from different areas will be dispatched to the drill area in the northwest city of Tabriz.

The third phase of the drill will feature air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles as well as various types of fighter sorties, Chit-Foroush added.
