Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi emphasized that no issue should eclipse the subject of Palestine and the holy city of Jerusalem in the Islamic world. He stressed that the message of the International al-Quds Day rallies is one which calls for the greatness and the unity of the worldwide Islamic community.

Speaking to reporters during the International al-Quds Day rallies in the holy city of Qom, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi condemned the Zionist regime’s crimes against the innocent people of Palestine.

According to Rasa, the revered source of emulation appreciated the massive and enthusiastic presence of the people in the march, saying that the al-Quds Day rallies and the enthusiastic presence of the people shows their greatness and proves the unity of Muslims and the blatant humiliation of Israel and the allies of this evil regime. “No issue should eclipse the subject of Palestine and the holy city of Jerusalem in the Islamic world,” he stressed.

He stressed that the issue of the holy city of Jerusalem and Palestine must not be forgotten under any circumstances and that Muslims must be completely vigilant. “These rallies show that every year, fresh blood flows through the veins of the Islamic Resistance movement,” he emphasized.

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi also referred to the crimes committed by the House of Said against the people of Yemen, saying: “Unfortunately, the oppressed Yemeni people have been under intense Saudi bombardment for a long time and international organizations and the world have turned a blind eye to the atrocities and crimes committed by the Saudi regime and this is very shameful.”

“During the al-Quds Day rallies, we also must not forget the poor people in Yemen,” he added.

In another part of his remarks, Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi spoke of the ongoing negotiations over Iran’s negotiations with the P5+1 group of countries over its disputed nuclear program, saying that Iran’s negotiating team has upheld the position of the Islamic system [of government] and if the West were prepared to accept an honourable agreement, and even if they are not prepared, there are other ways to achieve Iran’s righteous objectives.

Imam Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, named the last Friday of the lunar fasting month of Ramadan as International al-Quds (Jerusalem) Day. The event fell on July 10th this year.

Every year on International al-Quds Day millions of people around the world, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, stage rallies on this day to voice their support for the Palestinian nation and repeat their call for an end to the Zionist regime’s atrocities and its occupation of the Palestinian territories.
