UNICEF: Israel violates the Rights of the Child

In a statement to mark International Children’s Day, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) said “Israel” is tangible breach of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The statement, issued on the 21st anniversary of the Geneva Convention to protect children’s rights, criticized Israel’s failure to uphold international law and honor its obligation to protect children.

The issue of child protection, the report noted, is divided between various Israeli government agencies, and there is no single body that deals with the matter properly.

The organization accused the Zionist entity of having no comprehensive strategy to protect the rights of the child and apply the international treaty; noting that the Zionist entity excludes the West Bank and Gaza Strip from the application of the Convention, even though they are Occupied Territories subjected to its military control.
