US fears Americans becoming informed: Analyst

images (1)Press TV has conducted an interview with Allen Roland, online columnist, about Germany and Brazil submitting a request to the UN to adopt an anti-spying resolution for the right to privacy after being victims of the NSA spy program.

The following is an approximate transcript of the interview.

Press TV: Even if this resolution is passed the US is known as one of the biggest violators of international law. You don’t think it’s going to stop the US from spying now do you?

Roland: Well let me put it this way. It’s very interesting the blowback that is happening big time across the world right now with illegal spying, not only domestic but international spying operations. So the real questions is this – Why is the United States doing this? And, what are they trying to protect – what are they protecting themselves from? And it has always been my thought that what they are really afraid of is the truth.

Edward Snowden should probably get a Nobel Peace Prize for what he’s doing right now. This is just the beginning of information that he is leaking to show exactly the illegal actions and spying that we’ve been doing for some time now and it’s all coming back to haunt us.

But the questions is then – what are we protecting ourselves from? It’s not terrorists – imaginary al-Qaeda etc – It’s lies. Lies we have been telling ourselves; to our own people as well as the world. And of course most of us all know that the big lie is the 9/11 lie, which will eventually come to the fore, too.

The administrations starting from the Bush-Cheney administration are deathly afraid of this coming to light, hence Guantanamo – jailing innocent people with no chance for freedom. Why? Because as long as they’re there they can say that they did something illegal – which is untrue.

So, this is blowback time and it’s the beginning of the end. In some ways for the falseness and lying of this administration – the Bush-Cheney administration as well as the Obama administration – and it’s welcomed.

Press TV: How far do you think a resolution by the UN is going to go in assuring that world powers are indeed more serious about making sure that America doesn’t get away with breaking this law?

Roland: Well, it may not get that far, but it’s just the fact that it has been brought forward that makes the difference. The international backlash also on the drone attacks in Pakistan. All of this stuff is happening at the same time.

One thing the Obama administration is afraid of is the public armed with the truth. Look at what happened when we tried to attack Syria, that strike on Syria. It started with the British parliament voting ‘no’. If they had voted in the Senate and in the House it would have been a ‘no’ vote, too, but that was delayed by a deal with Russia to come up with some type of an arrangement to keep that vote from happening.

The tide has turned. The American public is finally becoming informed. The lies are being revealed for what they are. Edward Snowden – no wonder they’re trying to silence Edward Snowden. He basically had the truth and he was not afraid to tell it. And there are a lot of other truth tellers that are coming to the fore. The more this happens the more truth is going to come out. Watch the big lies get exposed, uur spy program is just one of them.
