Kurdish forces capture the Salahiddeen Mosque in Aleppo City

YPG

Kurdish forces backed by Jaysh Al-Thuwwar of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) – repelled the Islamist rebel offensive on Saturday morning after the latter repeatedly attempted to seize the Bani Zayd Youth Housing Complex inside Aleppo City.

Following the failed offensive by the Islamist rebels, the YPG and SDF launched an assault to capture the Salhiddeen Mosque in the Al-Ashrafiyah District of Aleppo City.

The YPG and SDF would impose full control over the Salahiddeen Mosque and the Al-Ashrafiyah Station after a violent battle with the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), the Free Syrian Army (FSA), Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Jabhat Al-Shamiyah. With the capture of the Salahiddeen Mosque and the Al-Ashrafiyah Station, the Kurdish forces have built a buffer-zone around the Shrikh Maqsoud axis.
