US government involved in gun culture & hatred: Activist

Press TV has conducted an interview with Randy Short of the Black Autonomy Community Network Organization, from the US state of Tennessee, to discuss the reason behind shooting sprees in the United States.

Mass shootings have been around for a long time in America, but public, random violence is on the rise.

A gunman killed one person and wounded five others in a shooting spree in Arizona on Wednesday, sparking an hours-long manhunt by police teams before he was caught, AFP reported.

The activist says the US has a hate culture and the Anglo-American society is a “gun-based society” which has killed indigenous Indians and stolen lands from the Mexican society.

Short argues that some elements in the US government support international extremists and also radicals in the American society to eliminate its opponents.

“The United States has ISIS or ISIL and al-Qaeda internationally, and many other groups like Americans with post-slavery history, so these groups have always been supported by elements in the government,” he says.

“When civil rights workers have been killed, the government has been involved,” Short also pointed out.

He concludes that the CIA is using drugs money to fund warfare against domestic minorities like African Americans and fighting against people like President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, and “this comes from a society that is … on war, hatred and imperialism.”
