Russia Says US is Main Reason for Palmyra Fall on ISIS Hands

Dmitry Peskov told journalists Monday that “the US does not want to cooperate,” adding that “cooperation would have probably allowed us to more effectively avoid such attacks from terrorists.”

ISIS Affiliated Amaq News Agency Says Syrian Army Evacuated Palmyra After ISIS Assault

Syrian troops aided by Russian airstrikes drove ISIS from Palmyra (Tadmur) in March, but the militants stormed back into the city over the weekend. The Syrian government and Russia had been focused on Aleppo, where they are almost defeated terrorists that have held the eastern half of the northern city for four years, according to AP.

Peskov said many of the ISIS terrorists involved in the Palmyra assault had recently left the Iraqi city of Mosul, where Iraqi forces have been waging a nearly two-month-old offensive against the militants.

Today Syrian and Russian fighter jets targeted a long supply convoy of ISIL terrorists’ vehicles on a road in a region in Hama as it was heading towards the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur) in Homs, inflicting major losses on the militants, FNA reported.

The warplanes hit ISIL’s military-supply column that left the terrorist group’s base in Aqayrabat region in Badiyeh (desert) in Hama – where the desert path leads to Palmyra in Eastern Homs – leaving a number of militants dead and the convoy’s vehicles destroyed.

In the meantime, the Russian and Syrian aircraft pounded the gatherings of Fatah Al Sham Front (previously known as the al-Nusra Front) in farms near the town of Kafr Zita, in the town of Al Latamina and its surroundings and in Al Zawar region, killing and wounding a number of militants and destroying their equipment.
