Official: Alignment with Dictatorial Regimes Unveils Untruthfulness of West’s Democracy Slogans

“Human rights for the US and the western statesmen is a slogan chanted for deception; Iran, for instance, is the biggest democracy in the Middle-East but the West’s allies in the region even don’t have the least (elements of) democracy, and this shows the West’s deceptive claims about democracy,” Larijani said, addressing a ceremony held at Tehran University on Monday to unveil a Basij report on the violation of human rights in the United States.

He said that the West-backed UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, Ahmed Shaheed, is also a media actor tasked with waging a propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic.

Larijani also blasted the US policy of exceptionalism, and said, “The human rights defined by the US says that the blood of the Americans is red but the blood of others is colorless.”

The US belief in the Americans’ exceptionalism has come under light and growing criticism after the recent remarks by US President Barack Obama, when he was preparing for a war on Syria.

“Terrible things happen across the globe,” the US President opined, “and it is beyond our means to right every wrong, but when with modest effort and risk we can stop children from being gassed to death and thereby make our own children safer over the long run, I believe we should act,” Obama said in September.

“That’s what makes America different. That’s what makes us exceptional. With humility, but with resolve, let us never lose sight of that essential truth,” he added.
