US violating rights of nuclear states

Iran has slammed the nuclear threat issued by the US as a violation of the rights of nations committed to the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

“Unfortunately at this point in time, with the impudent US threat of using atomic bombs, the rights of nations committed to the peaceful use of nuclear energy are not respected,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast was quoted by ISNA as saying on Monday.

“Is the US threat against Iran not an encouragement for state terrorism?” Mehmanparast went on to ask, two days after US Vice President Joe Biden repeated that Washington was “keeping all options on the table” against Iran.

He maintained that foreign interference in Iran’s internal affairs was proof that the country is playing a “successful and influential” part in global politics.

In a controversial new nuclear policy, the US excluded Iran from the long list of countries against which the US says will not use nuclear weapons.

The White House accuses Tehran of moving to develop the capacity of creating nuclear bombs. Iran, however, says its program is directed at the civilian applications of the technology.
