The pro-Taliban militants in Pakistan have denied all involvement regarding the bombings at the Boston Marathon that killed at least three people and injured more than 150 others.

“We believe in attacking the US and its allies but we are not involved in this attack,” the Agence Free Press quoted Ehsanullah Ehsan, spokesman for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), on Tuesday.

“We have no connection to this bombing but we will continue to target them wherever possible,” added the militant.

The TTP has been accused of committing previous attacks on US soil including the Times Square bombing plot back in 2010, where US authorities imposed a life sentence on Pakistani-American citizen Faisal Shahzad for his alleged role in the attack.

However, the TTP denied ever training or recruiting Shahzad.

The main focus of the TTP has been an insurgency against the Pakistani government due to its alliance with the United States.

On Monday, US President Barack Obama vowed “a response” to the twin-bomb attack at the finish line of the annual Boston Marathon cross-country race, though he stopped short of naming any suspects.

Local media reports called into question a “Saudi national” who was injured in the incident, saying that he is being questioned by authorities at a hospital.

While there was no claim of responsibility or warning before the bombings, US officials are reportedly treating the incident as an act of terrorism.
