Bomb kills one, injures 3 US-led troops in south Afghanistan

Taliban militants claim that at least one US-led soldier has been killed and three others injured in a bomb attack in the troubled southern region of Afghanistan, Press TV reports.

The attack was carried out in Helmand Province on Thursday.

It came only two days after at least 40 US-led soldiers were allegedly killed or injured in a car bomb attack in the same province.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yusuf Ahmadi said the attack was carried out late on March 25, when an explosive-laden vehicle targeted a joint US-Afghan military base.

The increasing number of military casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the United States and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the Afghan war.

The US-led war in Afghanistan removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan, despite the presence of thousands of US-led troops.
