Wave of Infighting Erupts among Terrorist Groups in Northwestern Syria

The Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) stormed the command centers of other terrorist groups in Idlib province, forcing them to leave their positions, local sources reported on Friday.

The sources said that the Al-Nusra stormed the command centers of other rival groups in the town of Ma’arat al-Nu’aman and closed the terrorist groups’ headquarters in the town.

The Al-Nusra had given 72 hours to the terrorist groups in Ma’arat al-Nu’aman to leave their command centers and headquarters, the sources said.

They added that the Al-Nusra arrested a number of rival terrorists, including Deputy Interious Minister of Terrorist Groups Ahmad Qassoum in their assault .

A field source said in October that the Southern Idlib was the scene of fierce clashes between Ahrar al-Sham and Jund al-Aqsa, adding that scores of militants from both sides were killed or wounded in the clashes.

“Ahrar al-Sham fighters arrested a number of Jund al-Aqsa near Saraqib and stormed the house of Ali al-Issa, one of the commanders of Ahrar al-Sham that resulted in the escalation of fighting between the rival terrorist groups,” the sources said.

“In Khan Sheikhoun, Jund al-Aqsa captured Ahrar al-Sham positions and then the town,” the sources added.

In the meantime, Syrian fighter jets bombed heavily a base of the terrorists in the Eastern side of al-Dana, leaving scores of militants dead.
