West playing blame-Russia charade over MH17 crash

The recent mysterious crash of a Malaysian airliner in Ukraine has provided Western governments with a pretext to play “blame-Russia charade,” an analyst writes for Press TV.

“The Western leaders…[have] got on board the blame-Russia charade,” Jim Dean wrote in an article for the Press TV website, alluding to the Western governments’ allegations of Russian responsibility in the apparent downing of Malaysian Flight MH17 in east Ukraine on July 17.

He said the Western leaders have incessantly made “threatening statements toward Russia and [President Vladimir] Putin,” despite their knowledge of who downed the plane.

“Yet they (Western leaders) all have engaged in what I can only describe an orgy of deception and manipulation of public opinion, on a level to disgrace calling themselves democracies,” wrote Dean.

He added that the Western governments sought immediately to “milk all the new-sanctions momentum” from the tragedy.

“Without even a token amount of time allowed to sift through the evidence of this horrible tragedy right in the middle of a war zone, a totally unnecessary one, Western leaders and politicians have been tripping over each other playing Mr. Tough Guy with baseless accusations and threats toward Russia before the dead were collected,” Dean wrote.

The analyst said the US call for investigation to determine the cause of crash is a “bad joke” because “US satellites saw everything that happened.”

The Malaysia Airlines flight was reportedly shot down over Ukraine’s volatile Donetsk region while en route from the Dutch city of Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. All the 298 passengers and crew on board were killed.

Ukraine and Russia blame each other over the incident.
