Day 64 of the Syrian Arab Army/Hezbollah offensive at Al-Zabadani started smoothly, as the latter forces overpowered the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Free Syrian Army (FSA), and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” inside this resort-city’s downtown area after a morning filled with a significant amount of bloodshed.

The Syrian Arab Army’s 63rd Brigade of the prestigious 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – attacked the Islamist rebel forces at the Al-Bayt Mosque, which was converted by the aforementioned into a military base that harbored a little over 80 militants.

Following a morning of intense fighting, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance took complete control of the Al-Bayt Mosque, killing a confirmed 13 enemy combatants from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the FSA before their remaining fighters withdrew towards Al-Zabadani’s city-center in order to evade the pressing SAA and Hezbollah soldiers.

In addition to their capture of the Al-Bayt Mosque, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah captured Adhimah Street, which is located directly south of Al-Zabadani’s downtown area.

For the Islamist rebels, Al-Zabadani is still under the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance’s fire control, as Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and company remain confined to an area that is reportedly 250 square meters around the city-center.

Social media activists from the Syrian Opposition revealed the names of over 100 of their armed combatants that have been killed inside Al-Zabadani during the last few weeks; this list contained the names of 105 men that were allegedly killed during this battle.
